Kate is an award-winning Public Affairs and PR consultant, and our specialist for plans involving sustainability, environmental and green issues.
Initially working as a journalist, Kate spent the bulk of her career in-house in senior communication roles across a variety of organisations including the Environment Agency, Energy Saving Trust, Greenergy and London First. She now provides PR and Public Affairs consultancy for a number of clean energy and electric transport businesses, as well as environmental start-ups and NGOs.
A recent success of Kate's was delivering the award-winning PR for Clean Air Day, securing 1,700 pieces of media coverage, across national and regional, broadcast and print media. She also launched the Clean Van Commitment securing 40 pieces of trade media coverage; and launched eMotorWerks (smart EV charging company) into the UK securing over 25 pieces of trade coverage, and interviews with the FT.
Another example was managing the public affairs campaign for car-sharing service Zipcar that has placed such car clubs high on the London political agenda due to the benefits they deliver to air quality. Its campaign involved influencing key political stakeholders including GLA, TfL, London councils, and also important opinion-formers. Recently she supported the launch of Zipcar’s 325 EV fleet into the UK, and was instrumental in the development and launch of their Vision 2025 – delivery of an all electric fleet for London.
At the Energy Saving Trust Kate led on the development of consumer campaigns that delivered double the media coverage within half the budget. The campaign focused on developing consumer messages that took a money saving focus to achieve coverage and encourage consumer action to save energy. She has continued her track record of securing media coverage on traditional sustainability and environmental subjects by using money saving and other hooks into the mainstream and broader business media by getting her clients regular coverage in key media titles such as The Times, Daily Telegraph, Director Magazine, Financial Director, Bloomberg, Sky Swipe, Daily Mail, etc.
Notable achievements of Kate's range from: winner of the PR Moment award for her Clean Air Day PR campaign; an award-winning public awareness campaign, Breathe Easy, on reducing air pollution; influencing Treasury to introduce one of the first tax incentives for cleaner fuels and technologies for cars; launching the UK’s first biodiesel blend; and greening the company car taxation system. She was also a Trustee at Global Action Plan, the NGO that specialises in changing behaviour to increase sustainability.
