At Kelso Consulting, Katy looks after the dozens of features we place in business publications each month for our clients, ensuring the whole process goes smoothly.
Her role with clients includes the initial stages of devising interesting ideas for articles and gaining commissions with target business publications and newspapers, through to drafting them to a high quality and arranging the required approvals.
Katy also brings her depth of experience and contacts in the insurance and legal sectors for our clients in these industries.
Katy has a particular interest in the legal and legaltech areas and, prior to joining Kelso, worked for The Lawyer, the UK’s leading legal magazine, first as a senior reporter focused on litigation, then as news editor with overall responsibility for the scores of legal sector stories it publishes each week. As well as reporting news and feature writing, Katy was responsible for project managing the magazine’s annual Top 20 Cases rankings and helping to deliver The Lawyer UK200 (the definitive annual listing of the UK’s biggest law firms). She also sat on the judging panel for The Lawyer Awards for seven years.
During her eight years at The Lawyer, Katy interviewed thousands of law firm partners and barristers (no exaggeration!), and has written about just about every significant law firm in England and Wales.
Katy began her City career at Insurance Times, particularly focusing on the commercial insurance broker market and legal expenses sector. While with Insurance Times she was also an active freelance insurance writer appearing in such publications as The Observer, the Chartered Insurance Institute’s in-house magazine The Journal, and British Insurance Brokers’ Magazine The Broker.
Her past professional Public Relations experience includes working with a Top 10 UK law firm, helping it to achieve industry awards and shape its ongoing marketing campaign and also acting the communications manager for litigation finance broker The Judge.
