2018 brings two great accolades for consultancy client Simon-Kucher

By Tim Prizeman, Director - Kelso Consulting (Public Relations agency)

FT and MCA deliver twin accolades for Kelso management consultancy client Simon-Kucher

The Financial Times and the Management Consultants Association each have just delivered accolades to our client Simon-Kucher  for the quality of work and the strength of feedback from both clients and peers.

FT – UK’s Leading Management Consultants 2018 report

In the FT’s new and major benchmarking report into the performance of the UK’s top 1,000 management consultancies, Simon-Kucher scored a maximum six out of six stars (the FT’s gold ranking) in the “Marketing, Branding & Pricing” category, one of only three consultancies to achieve this. The firm also picked up strong four-star bronze awards in the “Consumer Goods & Retail” and “Internet, Media & Entertainment” industry sector rankings.

Based on its research, The Financial Times highlighted how the consulting landscape is changing as specialist consultancies are outpunching the global giants in their markets. Their view echoes the belief that Simon-Kucher has held for more than 30 years – that specialism ultimately pays off: “… it is possible for specialists to win gold in single events. Simon-Kucher is in a cluster of seven consultancies that won the top ranking in one sector or service.”  Full article here.

MCA – 2018 MCA Awards finalist

More good news followed just a few days later with the Management Consultancies Association on Monday shortlisting Simon-Kucher as a finalist in the Commercial Excellence category for its 2018 awards.  The nomination is for their work in helping make the London 2017 World Championships & World Para Athletics a huge commercial success. Simon-Kucher conducted

MCA2018 Final LOGO_blackdetailed research exploring fans’ event preferences and willingness-to-pay, and ultimately crafted the pricing and packaging framework that facilitated all the objectives of the Championships. The resulting London World Championships were a record-breaking success, featuring sold-out stadiums, capacities over 90% on average, revenues £14m above target, and a best-in-class example for future Championships.  Further details are here and the winner will be unveiled in April.

Its London managing partner Mark Billige said: “The entire Simon-Kucher team were absolutely delighted by the Financial Times rankings, which are based entirely on the strong feedback given to the FT’s researchers by a wide range of clients and our competitors.

"On behalf of Simon-Kucher I would like to thank everyone who provided feedback to the FT, and we are humbled that it has been so overwhelmingly positive. We are incredibly proud of the result but we will not rest on our laurels. I know this recognition will serve to motivate further future success through our relentless focus on helping our clients answer their most important pricing and top-line questions.

“The MCA awards are highly coveted by all the UK consultancy firms and so the competition is always strong.  We have a great track record of helping landmark sporting events, such as the London World Champions and numerous other sporting world cups, score gold on the commercial side so we’re delighted to be on the finalists’ podium and have our fingers crossed for a gold medal result for our entry too.”
